Designer Gates was founded in 2017 by husband and wife team; James and Emma. James came from vast experience in the landscape construction industry and Emma closed her chapter in Teaching to build their dream of designing, building and installing amazing gates and automation for clients all over Canterbury.
They are passionate about creating outstanding outcomes for their clients and supporting a team of excellent employees who they are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with.
Since its establishment, Designer Gates has had the privilege of working with a number of residential clients in Christchurch, North Canterbury and the wider Canterbury region, as well as building and landscaping companies, architects, project managers and commercial clients.
Alongside James and Emma are the fantastic Designer Gates Team who are specialists in their field. They pride themselves on top quality workmanship and professionalism. We couldn't do it without them!

Why the change?
Designer Gates was founded more than nine years ago, and if we’re being fair, our original logo was a bit of an afterthought.
The plan was always to come back to it and create something that truly represented who we are - a brand that was distinctive, easy to recognise and reflective of the quality of our work.
But we got busy doing what we do best: designing, fabricating, installing and automating gates.
Nine years later, it was time to give our brand the same attention to detail we give every project.
Modern, with a little flourish
Our new logo combines a clean, modern typeface with a decorative flourish - much like our team.
We are masters of our trade, constantly keeping up with new techniques, products and technology, while still taking pride in the craftsmanship and individual skill that goes into every gate we create.
Built to be recognised
The new icon is strong, simple and recognisable with or without the full Designer Gates name.
That reflects our workmanship too.
When you see a Designer Gates entranceway, we want it to be recognisable by the details - the quality of the fabrication, the precision of the installation and the care taken with the final finish.
And why golden yellow?
Because it represents how we want our clients to feel when their project is complete, and for years afterwards.
Warm. Happy. Safe. Secure.
So, for a little while, you may still see both versions of Designer Gates out in the world as we gradually make the change.
The logo may be new, but the important things haven’t changed.
We’re still the same team, with the same passion for quality gates, automation, safety and security - and the same commitment to doing the job properly.
